About

Mitchell Piantanida is an Orange County based Composer, Conductor, and vocalist. He holds a BA in music education and music composition from Concordia University Irvine and a MM from California Baptist University in Choral Conducting and Composition, where he was also named “Outstanding Graduate Student” during his final semester.

As a vocalist, he has performed in various domestic regions and internationally in countries such as Austria, Germany, and Italy. With the CBU vocal jazz ensemble “Vocalise” he performed at the Southern Baptist State Convention and on TV. He has performed a tenor soloists in numerous churches in the Southern California area.

As a composer, he has arranged for Concordia University Irvine's men's chorus, "resound" handbell quartet, and for Concert Handbells, a nationally recognized handbell ensemble. As an alumnus of CUI, he was commissioned to write and perform a full score of new music for CUI's theater production of “10 Days in a Madhouse”. In his time at CBU he won the first choral composition competition with his piece, "Beyond the Wandering Moon." He also recently won second place in the Magnon Competition.
